The programme

This Dutch-led BSc combines biology, chemistry and physics to study cells and molecules, with a strong practical research focus and lab experiments. In year three, students choose a minor or electives and complete a thesis. WUR lists routes into molecular life sciences, biotechnology, bioinformatics and other master's programmes.

Once you have started

First-year minimum to continue
Pass at least 36 of 60 credits in the first year, or you must leave the programme
Every course is worth a number of credits, which you earn by passing it; a full year is 60.
In the university’s words: Fewer than 36 credits in first-year courses results in a negative binding study advice, de-registration at the end of the academic year, and inability to re-enrol in the same programme for the next three study years. Exceptional personal circumstances can result in a postponed advice.

If you are following the standard programme of your particular educational choice, then each academic year consists of 60 credits. The norm that has been established for the BSA is 36 credits worth of first year courses.
If you receive a negative BSA, you will be de-registered at the end of the academic year and you will not be able to re-enrol for the same degree programme for the next three years.
