Bachelor of Science
- €2,771 a year Statutory rate for students with the nationality of an EER country, Suriname or Switzerland who study for the first time in funded education, or who started higher education earlier but are starting a new programme without a completed bachelor, doctoraal, engineering or hbo degree.
Other prices, for students in another situation (your profile decides which one you see):
- €2,771 a year Statutory rate still applies to a student who already has a bachelor or master but starts a programme in the domain of education or healthcare for the first time. The page does not say whether this programme counts as healthcare.
- €2,771 a year Statutory rate applies to a student who began a second bachelor or master before finishing the first and stays enrolled without a break. Leiden also charges institutional tuition at the level of the statutory rate to a student who starts teacher training, or who starts a second programme at Leiden straight after finishing a bachelor or master there.
- €14,400 a year Institutional rate for a second bachelor: students with the nationality of an EER country, Suriname or Switzerland who obtained a bachelor, doctoraal, engineering or hbo degree at a Dutch institution after September 1991. The statutory rate still applies in the exceptions listed as separate values.

Rank in biology Where Universiteit Leiden ranks in world subject rankings. Lower is better. A subject ranking rates the university’s work in a subject across all its faculties, not one department or this programme, so every programme there in the subject shares it. Under each list, what it mostly rests on. The colour shows where the university stands among the other universities on this site, not among all universities in the world: green ahead of most, red behind most. The combined score averages those standings over the lists: 10 is ahead of all of them in every list, 1 behind all. So it compares only the universities on this site, and can change as more are added. Rankings mostly measure research, not teaching.
